FOUR suspects in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl in Liloan, Cebu were arrested on Friday, May 10.
Police first arrested a certain Beduya in Barangay Looc, Danao City around 11 p.m. on Thursday. The crime happened around 4 a.m.
According to Police Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Liloan Police Station, Beduya disclosed during the tactical interrogation who were his companions during the incident that led to the arrest of other suspects.
The twin brothers were arrested around 2 a.m. in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City on Friday while the fourth suspect was arrested two hours later around 4 a.m.
Gingoyon said a witness who happened to be in the area during the attack helped police track down the suspects.
He said one suspect remains at large.
The victims were having a drinking session outside a convenience store when they were fired upon by motorcycle-riding assailants.
Gingoyon said personal grudge was the motive of the attack.
The suspects belong to the “Crips” gang while some of the victims are members of Bloods. The two warring gangs have been involved in several atrocities.
Police said a fellow gang member of the suspects was stabbed by the girl’s boyfriend in the same area where the attack happened.
The two gangs were also involved in a fracas during a fiesta celebration in Mandaue last May 8.
Police said a 9mm caliber pistol loaded with six bullets was recovered from one of the twin brothers.
The seized firearm will be subjected to a ballistic examination to determine if it matches with the 18 spent shells and two slugs that were recovered from the crime scene, police said.
Police said the suspects are facing possible charges for murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
