Teenage girl shot dead in Cebu


CEBU CITY – A 16-year-old girl died while her two companions were wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Yati, Liloan town, Cebu early Thursday morning, May 9.

The girl was hit in the chest and died while being treated in a hospital in Mandaue City where she and her teenage friends were brought after the attack.

The attack happened around 4 a.m. while the girl and her friends were having a drinking session outside a convenience store.

Police said while the group was drinking at least five men on a motorcycle arrived and fired at the victims.

The assailants, who wore full-face helmets, sped off after the attack.

Police Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Liloan Police Station, said 18 spent shells and two slugs from an undetermined firearm were recovered at the crime scene.

Gingoyon said the victims are members of youth gang “Crips.”

He added that investigators have identified some individuals who were considered as “persons of interest” in the crime.
