Marcos: Gov't must take lead in following traffic rules

President Marcos reminded government officials and employees that being in government is not a privilege that allows them to break traffic rules, prodding them to set an example in following road etiquette.
Marcos said this as he enjoined Filipinos to participate in a traffic summit on Wednesday, April 10, to discuss possible ways to resolve Metro Manila's traffic crisis.
In his recent vlog, the President said that being disciplined on the road helps ease travel and that saying a simple "thank you" to those who let you pass or go ahead of them is a good gesture.
Marcos said the people in government must be the first to practice discipline while on the road instead of abusing their position.
"Ang pag-aabuso at pagbabalewala sa batas trapiko ay hindi pribilehiyo na kasama sa sinumpaan naming mga lingkod-bayan (Abusing and ignoring traffic rules are not privileges included in the sworn oath of a public servant)," he said.
"Pangungunahan ng pamahalaan at lahat ng mga ahensya ang pagiging disiplinado sa ating mga lansangan (The government and all its agencies will lead in becoming disciplined on our roads)," he added.
According to the President, the Philippines would not prosper if people fail to follow simple traffic rules.
"Dapat susunod tayo sa traffic rules. Para tayong mauubusan lagi ng kalye (We should follow traffic rules. We're acting like we're running out of roads)," Marcos said.
"Eh, bago man ang kalye kung luma pa rin ang ugali pa rin natin ay wala rin (It won't matter if our roads are new if our attitude does not change)," he added.
