A Serbian "fugitive facing illegal drugs charges in the United States" has been arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday, April 28.
He was identified as Predrag Mirkovic, 60, who was arrested by operatives of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) last April 25 at a bar in Angeles City based on a mission order issued by Commissioner Norman Tansingco on request by the US government.
“US authorities bared that Mirkovic has an outstanding arrest warrant issued by a district court in Maryland where he was charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute controlled substances in violation of the US Penal Code,” the bureau said.
It also said the based on a report, Mirkovic was also involved in the illegal drugs trade in Angeles City.
“The complainant reportedly asked the BI to deport Mirkovic whom he described as an undesirable alien,” it said.
The BI said that Mirkovic is also the subject of “a warrant issued by the regional trial court-family court in Calamba, Laguna.”
“Charges of violating Republic Act 9262, the law on anti-violence against women, was allegedly filed before the said court against Mirkovic by his estranged Filipina partner,” it added.
Mirkovic is now detained at the BI's facility in Taguig City.
