Glico gives a high five as it celebrates its 5th year anniversary in the Philippines

With exciting launches and collaborations

The iconic Glico running man, officially known as the Goal-in mark by Glico, has been a fixture along the bank of Dotonbori Canal in Osaka for nearly nine decades. Behind this famous symbol stands Glico, a Japanese food manufacturing giant with over a century of commitment to improving people's health through innovative and beloved products. On April 18, 2024, Glico celebrated its 5th anniversary in the Philippines.

With its corporate mission of "Healthier Days, Wellbeing for life," Glico hosted an exciting evening for its business partners and associates in the Philippines, highlighting its groundbreaking innovations that have revolutionized snacking in the country. Glico first entered the Philippines market in 2019, introducing some of Japan’s most beloved snacks, including Pocky.

Driven by its goal to share happiness, Pocky has been a partner of Filipino moms in giving kids a healthy yet enjoyable snacking experience. Celebrity Mom, Camille Prats attests to this as she shared how Pocky has become a mainstay in their pantry. She has always struggled with her kids who are always looking for sweet and flavorful snacks; and Pocky made it easy for her to satisfy their sweet tooth while ensuring she gives them healthy treats.

Now, Pocky boasts higher fiber content and a crispier texture compared to its previous formulation, thanks to Glico's initiative to add fiber to the pretzel and incorporate whole wheat for a lighter, crispier texture. Despite these changes, the rich chocolate coating remains, providing consumers with a tastier and healthier version of the beloved snack.

In line with its commitment to innovation, Glico will introduce the new Pocky Premium Crushed Fruits line in May. This line features a multigrain biscuit stick coated in thick yogurt cream with real fruit chunks from imported fruits, offering a wholesome snack for real fruit enjoyment.

In addition to its confectionery offerings, Glico introduces the number one Almond Milk in Japan to the Philippines - Almond Koka. Not only is it delicious, but it also boasts numerous benefits. Made from 94 percent almond milk, it's rich in vitamin E, a good source of fiber, and contains zero cholesterol. Given that nine out of ten Asians are lactose intolerant (Silanikove, 2015), Almond Koka fills a significant need in the Philippines as a lactose-free, dairy-free, and soy-free milk alternative. Almond Koka comes in three delightful flavors: Unsweetened, Original, and Chocolate.

With its innovative products, it's no surprise that Glico is involved in exciting collaborations as well. It has teamed up with LIT Manila, a Japanese whisky bar in BGC, to create unique Pocky and Almond Koka drinks, offering adults a fresh way to enjoy their favorite snacks.

Glico has demonstrated that we can indulge in our favorite sweet treats without guilt through its brand partnerships for Almond Koka. You can now enjoy handcrafted drinks by Auro Chocolate in their cafes, made with the goodness of Almond Koka.

This summer, Glico, together with Tiger Sugar, brings you your favorite Brown Sugar boba milk drink with less guilt and the goodness of Almond Koka, available nationwide starting April 19, 2024.

Lastly, Glico and Gelato Manila have heightened the excitement by launching a new plant-based gelato line made with Almond Koka at the anniversary event. There are three different flavors available for you to try at gelatomanila.com!

Over the past five years, Glico has enriched the lives of Filipinos, and they are just getting started. Stay tuned for more news by following Glico Philippines on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
