In a Facebook post, CHED Chairman Popoy De Vera said there were no calls for the submission of Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) applications under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST).

De Vera, who also serves as the Chairman of UniFAST, said that they have “not announced any call for submission of TES applications for the Academic Year 2024-2025.”

“I remind the public to exercise caution, verify information, and refrain from engaging in transactions with individuals or groups claiming to represent the Commission or UniFAST,” De Vera said.

He also urged the public to refer only to official websites and verified accounts for any information or announcements related to programs being implemented by CHED and UniFAST.

UniFAST, also known as Republic Act No. 10687, reconciles, improves, strengthens, expands, and puts under one body all government-funded modalities of Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs) for tertiary education – and special purpose education assistance – in both public and private institutions.

These modalities include scholarships, grants-in-aid, student loans, and other specialized forms of StuFAPs formulated by the UniFAST Board.

TES is, on the other hand, is a grant-in-aid program under Republic Act (RA) 10931 or Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act given to qualified students enrolled in CHED-recognized public and private higher education institutions to “support at least the partial cost of tertiary education, inclusive of education-related expenses.”

On April 22, the Department of Education (DepEd) also issued an advisory warning the public against fake scholarship posts online using the name of the agency.
