Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua says First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos' venting of her sentiments against Vice President Sara Duterte can't be brushed off as "mere personal matters".
In a statement Monday, April 22, Chua said that the real issue is about Vice President Duterte's "character and integrity".
"First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ feelings toward Vice President Sara Duterte are about Sara’s character and integrity as a supposed member of the administration and as a public servant," Chua said.
"In public service, character and integrity are everything, so those feelings of the First Lady are not mere personal matters that can be cast aside as if they had no weight nor importance," added the legislator from Manila.
Chua was apparently reacting to remarks made by the Vice President wherein the latter shrugged off the First Lady's recent comments against her as “personal” sentiments.
Duterte also stressed that Araneta-Marcos' comments have nothing to do with her mandate as the country's second highest official.

"The Vice President’s character and integrity are now in serious question," noted Chua.
"Paano mapaglingkuran ni VP Sara nang tapat ang taumbayan kung ang dapat na katuwang niya, ang Pangulo, hindi niya masuportahan nang buong katapatan?" he asked.
(How will VP Sara honestly serve the people if she couldn't even fully support her supposed partner in the President?)
Chua earlier criticized the Vice President and concurrent Department of Education (DepEd) secretary for being a fence-sitter and for "pretending to be a full partner of the President [Marcos]".
"Her family unleashed a barrage of insults and attacks directly to the President and yet she does nothing and is still enjoying the perks of being part of the official family," the solon said.
