A high-ranking official of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) has distanced the erstwhile ruling party from former president Rodrigo Duterte's tirades against President Marcos.
In a press commence in Cebu over the weekend, PDP President and Palawan 2nd district Rep. Jose Alvarez said Duterte--the party's chairman--is free to express his views and opinions against the current administration.
But PDP's other members aren't obligated to echo or support his sentiments, Alvarez underscored.
“Our party chairman right now, being a former president, can say anything he wants. But us in the party hierarchy, we are consolidators, we are peacemakers, we are the forefront for peace and prosperity of the nation," he said.
"So therefore, whatever other rhetoric above us, please do not involve us,” added the congressman.
