3 persons arrested in Manila for 'illegally selling' SIM cards
Three persons have been arrested in Manila for "illegally selling" subscriber identity module (SIM) cards, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday, April 18.
Those arrested were identified by the NBI as Kim Thi Ta, Ria Nunez Sto. Domingo, and Mary Joy Llamera Sto. Domingo.
It said they were arrested last April 15 during an operation conducted by agents of the NBI’s Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) at the Orchard Residences in Tondo, Manila on the basis of a search warrant issued by a court.
Seized from the three suspects were pre-registered SIM cards, cellular phones, computer sets and GSM Modem/Text Blaster, it also said.
They were charged with violations of Republic Act (RA) 11934, the SIM Registration Act.
