Maison Margiela presents pieces that explores the 'concept of transmutation'

The French fashion house brings its genderless style and iconic pieces to Homme et Ferme store

During the recent couture fashion weeks, the name on everybody's lips was Maison Margiela. With its theatrical runway shows and stunning garbs with sickening beauty looks to match, the French luxury house served what everyone was craving for—the ultimate fantasy. As its creative director John Galiano continues to put the world in his dramatic spell, the brand is also widening its reach with launches happening all over the world, including the Philippines.

Last April 19, Maison Margiela made its return to lifestyle concept store Homme et Fernme in Makati City. To mark its comeback, the store presented its spring-summer 2024 collection with a showcase mirroring the vibe of the maison's runway presentation—think of pristine white space lit by the mesh-covered chandeliers.

Genderless and contemporary, the spring-summer 2024 collection explores the concept of transmutation, centering on "the act of inheritance.*

"Maison Margiela performs a search for personal truth in the generational transformation of an inherited wardrobe for the Co Ed spring-summer 2024 collection," the brand noted. "Creative director John Galliano initiates a chemical reaction between eras and attitudes based on a flashback story developed within the Maison's ongoing chronicle of the characters Count and Hen. The outcome is to evoke the memories of one age through the radical eyes of the next."

The brand's signature designs, best-selling pieces, and recent carry over styles are on display at the store. Count and Hen, a pair of star-crossed lovers, are characters first featured in a play during the brand's "Cinema Inferno" haute couture show in 2022. The show's Americana vibe is echoed in some of its pieces such like the white oversized shirt with Western design element. Also present in the store are shirts and hoodies with its 1997 numerical tag. Rounding it all up are bags, such as the Glam Slam and Trompe L'oeil SAC, as well as its signature Tabi footwear line.
