Korean drama ‘Wonderful World’ ends; Cha Eun-woo, Kim Nam-joo thank viewers


The Korean human mystery drama “Wonderful World,” starring Kim Nam-joo and Cha Eun-woo, aired its 14th and final episode on April 13. 

According to polling firm Nielsen Korea, the 14th episode of “Wonderful World” on April 13 on Korean TV network MBC got a nationwide rating of 9.2 percent and was watched by 1.58 million people.

With this, “Wonderful World” ranked second among shows that aired on paid platforms (cable, IPTV and satellite) on April 13. 

No. 1 is the 50-episode KBS2 Friday-Saturday drama “Beauty and Mr. Romantic,” starring Im Soo-hyang and Ji Hyun-woo, which received 14.4 percent nationwide rating.  Im Soo-hyang and Cha Eun-woo starred in “Gangnam Beauty” in 2018. 

The rating for episode 14 is lower by 2.2 percentage points compared to episode 13's 11.4 percent, which emerged as its highest for the series.  

Based on previous data, a pattern emerged, showing that “Wonderful World” pulled in lower ratings for its Saturday episodes. 

Its Friday episodes got higher ratings, reaching its best at 11.4 percent for episodes 9, 11 and 13. 

In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi), episode 14 of “Wonderful World” received a rating 8.7 percent (second place), lower compared to episode 13’s 11.6 percent on April 12. It was watched by one million people in the metropolitan area.

Ahead of the airing of the final episode, Cha Eun-woo, Kim Nam-joo, , Kim Kang-woo, and Im Se-mi thanked viewers. 

“I am deeply grateful to the viewers who have trusted and been with Eun Soo-hyun [her character] so far. I was able to spend happy moments by encountering a wonderful work called ‘Wonderful World.’ I would like to tell everyone who participated in ‘Wonderful World’ that it was ‘wonderful.’” said Kim Nam-joo.

Cha Eun-woo, who played the role of Kwon Seon-yul, said, “I was able to feel many emotions while playing the role of Kwon Seon-yul. I am grateful that ‘Wonderful World’ has allowed me to grow further. It was an honor to be able to build many long-lasting memories with the director, writer, seniors and juniors, and all the staff.”

He added, “I am deeply grateful to the fans who always send me love and support, and to everyone who cried and laughed along with the drama. I hope you all have a ‘wonderful’ day. Please watch Seon-yul’s performance until the end.”

Kim Kang-woo, who played the role of Kim Nam-joo's husband and journalist Kang Soo-ho, said, “It was a project that made me even happier because I was able to work with seniors and juniors who I really liked and respected.
