Three Americans, who are convicted sex offenders, have been barred entry to the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday, April 11.
They were identified as Jeffrey William Jewitt, 42, Charles David James Weatherall, 32, and Momodu Wurie Jalloh, 28. They have been included in the BI's blacklist.
The BI said that "under the immigration law, aliens convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude are automatically barred from entering the country.” the BI stated.
It said that Jewitt was intercepted last April 5 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 following his arrival from Incheon, South Korea.
“Jewitt, according to information obtained from the BI’s border control and intelligence unit (BCIU), was convicted of sex offenses in 2012 by a court in Illinois. He was convicted of two counts of child abduction and sexually luring a 16-year-old girl and one count of sexual exploitation of a 12-year-old child,” it said.
Weartherall was denied entry when he arrived last April 7 from Beijing, China. “The BI-BCIU said Weartherall was convicted of child pornography for possessing indecent images of children in the United Kingdom,” the BI said.
Last April 8 Jalloh arrived from Saudi Arabia. The BI said he "was convicted in Virginia of aggravated sexual assault due to incapacitation wherein the victim is a 21-year-old woman.”
