Akira Toriyama, the creator of the beloved Dragon Ball manga and anime franchise, has died at age 68 from acute subdural hematoma.
The Dragon Ball official website announced Akira passed away on March 1 from a brain blood clot.
The website post expressed sadness and regret at Akira’s sudden passing. It mentioned that he was passionately working on many projects and had much more he wanted to achieve.
Toriyama's close family held a funeral, and the dates for official farewell events are still unknown.
"Dragon Ball," which started in 1984, became a worldwide hit and was adapted into cartoons and movies.
