"I’ve been painting for eight years now. But I’ve started practicing wedding painting for three years. Since it was not yet famous in the Philippines back then, I only got my first wedding booking after a year of posting about live wedding painting," she told Wedding Essentials.
With her exceptional talent and dedication, Britney can complete a large wedding painting in just three to four hours, ensuring that the artwork is ready to be treasured by the newlyweds and their loved ones. The artistic and creative hands of Zarah Jane Bautista, also known as Zoro, makes a once-in-a-lifetime event into a masterpiece. Six years of having an acrylic portrait business, Zoro pursued her passion for art and every stroke she made was filled with love. She has even expanded to digital art.
She shared that an Instagram live painter had piqued her interest and that the idea of traveling, painting, and earning money at the same time was an exciting option.
“Since I was a kid, I've been into painting. But I only pursued it back in 2017 when I realized that I can earn from it. I was inspired by a live painting artist that I saw on Instagram. I loved the idea that she can travel to places, attend weddings/events, paint and make a living out of it,” Zoro narrated.
Zoro’s hardships were compensated by the sweetest smile and compliments she received from her clients. “My favorite part is the awarding of the painting to the couple at the later part of the wedding, where I will give the painting to a couple up close and see them appreciating the painting. This is my favorite part, yet awkward part as I’m an introvert,” she concluded.
Vivid visions
A 30-year-old artist from Tarlac, Jerome Cuison has made a name for himself in the art industry through his unique talent of live wedding painting. Jerome’s artistic journey took off when he created fan art of Pope Francis during his visit to the Philippines in 2015. Inspired by this experience, he joined various art groups to refine his skills and eventually decided to pursue art as a full-time profession in 2016. His initial focus was on mural art, where he painted large-scale artworks on walls of establishments, malls, schools, and even a race track.
Jerome embarked on his journey as a live wedding painter last year, 2023. With each wedding he painted, he honed skills and perfected his technique. A brush stroke of inspiration
As a Fine Arts student hailing from the University of the Philippines Baguio, Celvic Villacorta has always been captivated by the art of painting portraits. He considers himself truly blessed to have had the opportunity to receive training from such a prestigious institution.
Like other artists, Celvic inspiration strikes in the form of videos showcasing live wedding painters from abroad. Watching these artists in action, he couldn't help but think to himself, "I can do that!" This realization sparked a new chapter in his artistic journey, as he set out to explore the world of live wedding painting.
Since 2017, Celvic has served as a brand ambassador for various art brands, a role that has allowed him to share his talent through live art demonstrations at art events and workshops. People have been enthralled by his ability to create realistic portraits in real-time, and this has opened doors for him to represent more brands at art events. However, it wasn't until March 2023 that Celvic ventured into the realm of painting for weddings. The challenge of completing a painting within a mere six to eight hours thrilled him, as he always seeks to test his skills and strive for constant improvement.
One of Celvic's favorite aspects of live wedding painting is witnessing the couple's reaction when their artwork is unveiled. While they naturally expect to see their own faces captured on canvas, they are often taken aback by the meticulous attention to detail Celvic incorporates into his work.
“Distinct features like their smile, the stubbles on the groom's face, and even the eyeshadow that makes the bride's face radiant. They did their very best to look good on that day, and it's only right that I make sure to capture their beauty,” he shared. Celvic's artwork explores the triumphs and tribulations of life, with a special emphasis on the power of femininity. He often uses crumpled canvas as a medium for his creations.
