The local government of the Quezon City and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) signed a pledge of commitment supporting the “One Million Tree Initiative” at QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal on Tuesday, March 5.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, together with QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, led the event.
The initiative aims to transform Camp KAringal into an environmentally friendly camp that aligns with the environmental programs and advocacies of the city government.

Maranan said that they aim to expand their initiative.
“As part of the project, a total of 526 solar lights have already been installed throughout Camp Karingal and its police stations, in addition to the establishment of 158 urban gardens, 147 waste segregation bins, and 103 rainwater catchers,” he said.

Belmonte expressed her gratitude to the QCPD's commitment to the welfare of the citizens.
“Lubos kong ikinakatuwa ang paglunsad ng inyong Proyektong “Green Camp Karingal”. Ipinagmamalaki ko na nanguna ang kapulisan ng Quezon City sa pagkakaroon ng ganitong klaseng initiative na nagpapatunay ng inyong commitment sa kapakanan ng QCitizens (I am delighted by the launch of your project 'Green Camp Karingal.' I take pride in the Quezon City police force for taking the lead in such an initiative, proving your commitment to the welfare of QCitizens),” she said.
QCPD’s public information office said that during the event, it also conducted the oath-taking of the 166 QCPD Green cops and the ceremonial turnover of 400 fruit-bearing tree saplings.
The "Project Green Camp Karingal" was launched last Jan. 22 at the QCPD Grandstand, Camp Karingal.
