With the rising prices of basic goods in the country, it's a welcome development that financial institutions are finding ways to help consumers save.
Fuel constitutes a significant portion of many households' expenses. This is why the new UnionBank Shell Power Credit Card could be a gamechanger in the credit card landscape in the Philippines.

UnionBank and Shell Pilipinas Corporation have collaborated to introduce the UnionBank Shell Power Credit Card, offering solutions to cope with the rising prices of fuel in the country.
The new credit card, unveiled at the Grand Hyatt in Bonifacio Global City, promises a plethora of customer-focused innovation. Manoj Varma, Head of Consumer Banking at UnionBank, emphasized the card's convenience, rewards, and empowerment for customers.

"We are excited to bring this new card to market and drive our customers to fuel their aspirations," he said, during the media press conference.
Randy del Valle, Vice President and General Manager for Mobility at Shell Pilipinas Corporation, highlighted the card's value proposition, offering benefits such as savings on fuel, toll fees, and car services.
"Whether they’re going to Shell for fuels, stopping over at Shell Café for a break or ensuring their car is road worthy – the UnionBank Shell Power Credit Card has something to help you along your way," he added.

Cardholders can potentially save up to P15,000 annually on Shell fuel expenses, with the highest rebates of five percent or up to P4 off per liter on Shell Fuels, a 10 percent discount on Shell lubricants via Shell Go+, and a five percent rebate on toll and auto shops nationwide.
At the event, new applicants were presented with a special offer—P8 discount per liter on their first fuel purchase if they apply for the credit card at any participating Shell station. Additionally, those who apply during the promotional period until April 30, 2024, can enjoy zero annual fees for life.
