Foreigner with 'fake' Philippine visa arrested at NAIA

A foreigner with "fake" Philippine visa stamped on his passport has been arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

In a statement on Friday, March 29, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) identified the foreigner as Chinese Huang Yunpeng, 33, who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last March 20.

The BI said that Huang’s passport was examined by the bureau's forensic documents laboratory after an immigration officer noticed “glaring irregularities in the entry visa pasted on his passport.”

“It was later confirmed through forensic inspection that the Philippine visa on Huang’s passport is counterfeit,” it said.  The discovery led to the arrest of Huang, it also said.

“When investigated, Huang admitted that he paid a travel agency in Malaysia $2,000 to process his fraudulent visa,” it added.

Huang has been detained at the BI’s detention facility in Taguig City.
