CEBU CITY – Bohol Loop, an endurance ride participated in by motorcycle enthusiasts, will no longer be allowed in the province of Bohol.

Gov. Aris Aumentado made this decision after last Saturday’s event was marred by four accidents, including one in Sikatuna town where a woman died after she was hit by a motorcycle driven by a female participant.

Aumentado expressed his frustration over the inconvenience caused by the event.
“I want to apologize to my fellow Boholanos for the inconvenience that the event caused. Rest assured, we will no longer allow this in our province,” Aumentado said in his “Kita ug ang Gobernador” show on Tuesday, March 26.
Aumentado said he had no plans of joining the event but Senators Ronald dela Rosa and JV Ejercito, who were among the participants, visited him in his house and invited him to participate.
The governor said it was through his unplanned participation that he realized how disruptive the event was.
It was the second straight year that the province hosted the event.
Aumentado said the province decided to support the event as it was supported by the Philippine Tourism Board. The event was organized by Loop PH.
The governor said the event could actually become an ideal tourism tool if only all participants will follow the event’s rules and regulations.
“I joined the event and drove for just about 40 kilometers per hour because it was supposed to be a chill ride. Riders are not supposed to be speeding and stop in some tourist spots because it is not a race. But some participants did not follow that,” said Aumentado.
