CEBU CITY – A woman died as accidents marred an endurance ride dubbed Bohol Loop 2024 in the province of Bohol on Sunday, March 23.

Loop PH, the organizer of the event, confirmed that a motorist died in the accident after her motorcycle collided with another motorcycle driven by a participant.
“Since Saturday, March 23, 2024, we have been communicating closely to both our participant as well as the local. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of those who have been affected by this heartbreaking incident,” Loop PH said in a statement.
The fatal accident happened in Sikatuna around 10 a.m.

The Sikatuna police, per a report by Bohol Chronicle, identified the fatality as Ana Marie Tasic while the rider was identified as Suzette Lacanaria from Cagayan de Oro City.
According to the report, Tasic, who was driving a motorcycle, stopped by the roadside to give way to loop riders.
After seeing the group of riders pass by her and thinking there were no more oncoming participants, Tasic tried to cross to the other lane when she was hit by a motorcycle driven by Lacanaria.
The two were brought to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center in Tagbilaran City where Tasic died.
Three other riders were also injured after their motorcycles crashed in different areas on the route.
Posts on their official Facebook pages showed that Senators Ronald dela Rosa and JV Ejercito were among those who took part in the event.
Organizers of the race sought “support and understanding” from the public “as we navigate through this challenging time.”
“We want to assure them and the public that we are taking this matter seriously. We are establishing a support program to assist the family that is affected,” Loop PH said.
