The Korean drama “Queen of Tears” achieved its highest rating to date amid the dating rumors between its star, Kim Soo-hyun, and actress Kim Sae-ron, who was convicted for drunk driving.
“Queen of Tears” stars Kim Soo-hyun and actress Kim Ji-won, who play a couple experiencing marital problems.

On March 24, Kim Sae-ron uploaded a photo on Instagram showing her and Kim Soo-hyun posing cheek to cheek, sparking dating rumors.
The photo was uploaded and deleted before the airing of episode 6 of “Queen of Tears” on March 24. Kim Sae-ron did not disclose her intention about why she uploaded the photo.
Kim Sae-ron is on hiatus after she was found guilty of drunk driving by a Korean court last year.

Despite the dating rumors, “Queen of Tears” soared in the ratings.
According to Nielsen Korea, “Queen of Tears” episode 6 on March 24 achieved a nationwide rating of 14.068 percent (first place) in South Korea (peaking at 15.1 percent) based on paid platforms incorporating cable, IPTV, and satellite.
This is the drama’s highest rating to date. Episode 6 was watched by 3.56 million people in South Korea.
It is higher by 3.1 percentage points compared to episode 5’s nationwide rating of 10.964 percent.
In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi), episode 6 of “Queen of Tears” received a rating of 15.225 percent (first place), peaking at 16.2 percent, also its highest to date, compared to 12.197 percent for episode 5. It was watched by 1.75 million people in the metropolitan area.
Not only did “Queen of Tears” break its own highest viewership ratings both nationwide and in metropolitan area but it also swept first place in its time slot on all channels, including terrestrial channels.
Among tvN”s target audience of 20-49 age bracket, “Queen of Tears” garnered 6.5 percent (peaking at 7.1 percent) nationwide, and 5.6 percent (peaking at 6.2 percent) in the metropolitan area.
