The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed its support for the global movement for Earth Hour on Saturday, March 23.

"This hour-long event invites us all to reflect on our collective responsibility to protect and preserve Earth's precious resources," DSWD said in a social media post.
"Let us be united in turning off our lights and electronic devices for 1 hour to show our commitment towards a greener, cleaner, and healthier planet," it added.
The said initiative will take place on March 23 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Aside from DSWD, other government agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) have also expressed their support for the global movement.
"Let us take care of our environment and nature. Participating in Earth Hour by turning off non-essential lights even in the comfort of our homes will bring significant benefits in achieving safe and quality health for everyone,” DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said.
