Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto has set his sights on the 2028 elections after confirming that he will not be a candidate in the upcoming 2025 polls.

On the sidelines of the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) induction of officers on Thursday, March 21, Recto hinted at the possibility of resigning from his position as President Marcos' Secretary of Finance in October 2027.
He said that he is exploring the idea of running again for either a Senate seat or the governorship of Batangas in 2028.
Moreover, Recto disclosed that most of his family members, among them his wife, the seasoned actress Vilma Santos-Recto, are considering candidacy for the upcoming 2025 elections.
He added that his stepson, Luis Manzano, and his son, Ryan Christian Recto, are also mulling over the prospect of entering the political arena.
