My farm is a diverse and integrated agricultural venture. I take pride in raising free-range and fancy chickens, as well as cultivating exotic crops such as dragon fruit alongside a variety of other vegetables. In addition to poultry, my farm is home to native pigs, ducks, and turkeys, creating a thriving ecosystem.
Utilizing and Maximizing Available Resources
As much as I can, I prioritize sustainable and eco-friendly practices by utilizing natural food sources present around me as feed for my farm animals, including madre de agua, azolla, malunggay, and coconut meat. This ensures a healthy diet for my chickens and other animals while also promoting a more self-sufficient and environmentally conscious approach to farming.

Through these efforts, I strive to not only run a successful farm but also make a positive impact on the environment, the local community, and the well-being of the animals under my care.
I want to take a moment to reflect on a cherished memory from my childhood. When I was young, every afternoon filled me with anticipation as I eagerly waited for Ama (my grandpa) to feed his native chickens. My grandpa was a farmer pretty much all his life. Those moments I shared with him had a profound impact on me, shaping my perspective and teaching me valuable
lessons about life. The act of feeding chickens was such a simple act, but it held so much meaning for me.
Years passed, and life led me down my own unique path. And then, one day, I found myself in the same position as my grandpa, holding a container of feed and surrounded by a flock of chickens. The nostalgia flooded back, and I realized how deeply that experience had impacted me.

Impact of Childhood Memories
I want to encourage my fellow Kababayans to also take a moment to reminisce about their own cherished childhood memories. I strongly believe that agriculture is deeply ingrained in Filipino culture, and many young people feel a strong connection to the land and the traditions of farming.
I want to invite people to embrace those moments and be inspired to make a positive impact in their own small world. For young Filipino farmers like me, the opportunity to work in agriculture can provide a sense of fulfillment and purpose as we contribute to a time-honored way of life while addressing contemporary challenges.
Tougher than Trials and Tribulations
My journey was not without its trials and tribulations, but those experiences sculpted me into the knowledgeable and empathic farmer that I am today. Yes, farming can be tough, but passion is a very powerful motivator. When times get rough, your love for farming will keep you going. Find joy in the process, celebrate small victories, and remember that the challenges you overcome today contribute to your growth and success tomorrow.
When I ponder the future of agriculture in the Philippines, I see a landscape shaped by sustainability, technology, market dynamics, government support, and a crucial consideration—access to financing for small farmers.
