Colegio San Agustin-Biñan's College Department commemorated its silver anniversary celebration with a series of culturally rich and intellectually stimulating activities that showcased the institution’s commitment to excellence through Augustinian tradition and innovation.
The Silver Anniversary Week kicked off on March 4 with the ribbon-cutting ceremony of a Timeline Photo Exhibit, eloquently showcasing the significant milestones of the department from its establishment in 1998 to the present. This reflective exhibit offered a visual journey through the department’s evolution and growth, symbolizing its steadfast dedication to educational excellence.
Simultaneously, the aroma of creativity filled the air with Food, Tradition, Innovation: Inter-Senior High School Culinary Competition. The event witnessed a spirited contest among teams from Laguna's senior high school students in cupcake decorating, fruit and vegetable carving, and live hot cooking. The participants' skills were keenly evaluated by distinguished judges: hotel and resort managers Cid Datu and Ariel Panahon Tengco, and caterer Marianne Grace Pio-Cruz.
Alongside the culinary flair, students gleaned insights from business consultant, entrepreneur, and CSA College alumnus Dion Jeffrey G. Flores in a seminar on Navigating the Startup Sphere, reflecting the college's nurturing of future industry innovators.
March 5 and 6 were marked by the Conference on the Dynamics of Tradition and Innovation, welcoming senior high school students from CSA and various schools in Laguna. Distinguished speakers, including CSA School President Rev. Fr. Wilson A. Capellan, OSA, HR Practitioner Katherine Y. Punzalan, and Winfield Institute CEO Aurea A. Sugay, illuminated the intricacies of balancing tradition and innovation across diverse domains from global perspectives to technological communications.
The evening of March 7 was a fusion of artistry and elegance during the Red Carpet College Night. The event featured a spoken word poetry performance by spoken word contest champion Alessandra Abala and the traditional cotillon de honor by college students, creating a space where culture and education intertwined.
The week continued with the Pinning Ceremony for BS Psychology students on March 8, a poignant event marking their progress and readiness to embark on their professional journeys.
Culminating on March 9, the Grand Alumni Homecoming became a bridge connecting the past with the present, as alumni gathered to celebrate the legacy and future of their alma mater.
“Looking back on our beginnings 25 years ago, we are humbled by the progress we have made and the impact we have had on the lives of our students and the wider community,” College Dean Dr. Genevieve G. Estrañero said in a statement.
“Throughout our journey, we have remained dedicated to nurturing and developing young minds, and our efforts have been unwavering. On our 25th anniversary celebration, we remain committed to upholding the three-fold goals that have always inspired and guided us in this milestone event: commemoration, engagement, and promotion.”
