Apollo Quiboloy (MANILA BULLETIN)

Members of the so-called "Young Guns" in the House of Representatives slagged off the pro-Apollo Quiboloy prayer rally last week in Manila. 

Deputy Speaker Quezon 2nd district Rep. David "Jay-jay" Suarez and Zambales 1st district Rep. Jefferson Khonghun agree that prayer rallies like the one held last March 12 do not help the country in any way. 

They noted in a press conference Monday, March 18 that the event was hardly a prayer rally since it was more about spitting vitriol and criticisms against government. 

"Ako ang posisyon ko, I don't think nakakatulong po ito sa takbo ng atin pong bansa (My position of, I don't think this helps in running our country)," Suarez said. 

"Ang nais po nating ipakita (What we want to show is), stability within the country and having noise such as this is not helpful especially we're on track toward recovery from a pandemic," said the deputy speaker. 

"Sana hindi na madagdagan ito, dahil nakikita naman natin na wala naman talagang magandang naidudulot so far (I hope there are no more events like these since we haven't seen anything good come out of it so far)," he said. 

Another Young Gun in Khonghun gave his observation in the same presser: "Ngayon lang kami nakakita ng prayer rally na puro mura ang naririnig ano (This was the first time that we saw a prayer rally where all you heard was cussing)." 

"Mas maganda itigil na lang nila yan dahil wala naman naitutulong sa ating bansa yan (It would be better for them to just stop this since it's not helping the country)," stressed the lawmaker from Zambales 

"Sana ihinto na lang nila at wala naman talagang maitutulong sa bansa. At tsaka hindi naman talaga prayer rally ang tawag dun eh, dahil talagang walang ginawa kindi puro puot at masasakit na salita yung binibitawan doon sa pagtitipon na yun," he further said.

(Hopefully they stop this since it's really not helping the country. Also you can't call it a prayer rally if all you heard at the gathering were angry and sharp words.) 

Suarez further described the rally held by Pastor Quiboloy's supporters as a "mere distraction" and a bad example to children. 

Quiboloy is facing before the Department of Justice (DOJ) cases of sexual abuse of a minor and qualified human trafficking. 

In the United States (US), the controversial pastor is charged with conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking of children, sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, conspiracy, and ulk cash smuggling.
