Is Vice President Sara Duterte interested in Pastor Apollo Quiboloy's political clout and "economic ammunition?"

House Deputy Majority Leader Iloilo 1st district Rep. Janette Garin floated this possibility even as she struggled to make sense of Duterte’s participation in the pro-Quiboloy prayer rally held in Manila last Tuesday, March 12.

Pundits and casual observers alike have described the prayer rally as anti-administration.

“Two things, maybe the VP went there to be the instrument to unite our country. At maganda iyan kapag ganyan ang gawin niya kasi nararapat talagang magsasama-sama dahil mas marami ang problema natin kapag nag-aaway-away,” Garin said in a recent press conference.

(If that's what she'll do then that's good and appropriate, because our problems multiply if there's quarreling.)

“But on the other hand, politically speaking," she further said, "I am not sure [but] let’s have an academic discussion of the situation."

"Kung politika kasi ang pag-uusapan, siyempre alam naman ng lahat kung gaano kalawak ang koneksiyon ni Pastor Quiboloy and siyempre si pastor hindi lang sa Pilipinas iyong mga pag-aari, it expands to other countries,” explained the lady lawmaker.

(If we're talking about politics, of course everybody knows how expansive Pastor Quiboloy's connections are, and of course pastor not only has assets in the Philippines, it expands to other countries.)

Garin further expounded on her "theoretical assumption" pertaining to the Vice President and the self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God" and Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church leader.

“Una, may mga following siya (Quiboloy). Pangalawa, siyempre sa mga naririnig natin eh talagang loaded with economic ammunition si Pastor Quiboloy," she said.

(First, he has followers. Second, of course we hear that Pastor Quiboloy is really loaded with economic ammunition.)

"Siyempre kung iyong isang tao ay meron kang political desires in the future, pwedeng puntahan mo as an ally. That’s just a theoretical assumption kumbaga sa politika, pwedeng ganun,” she explained.

(Of course if one person has political desires in the future, you can go to him as an ally. That’s just a theoretical assumption so to speak in the political arena, that's possible.)

Duterte's current term ends in 2028 and it's safe to say that everyone is curious as to what her plans are.
