Good news for 80s hair metal and early 90s pop rock fans.

Bon Jovi is back with a new song in “Legendary.” The new single will be Bon Jovi's first release since the “2020” album. But apparently, this single almost never got made on account that Jon Bon Jovi had to undergo surgery to address some vocal severe issues that threatened his capability to sing.

Hence the jubilant vibe of “Legendary.” According to the 62-year-old singer, he’s had time to re-evaluate his life. “It’s been a decade since I was able to purely feel joy. And what matters to me anymore is just being here with my friends, writing the songs that I want to write and living the life I want to live.” The singer also added that the song is also a tribute to his wife saying, “she has been there faithfully throughout this process. And the (line in the song) “brown-eyed girl / she believes in me / legendary” is a nod to his wife of forty years, Dorothea Bongiovi.

Currently, the band consists of Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Phil X and bassist Hugh McDonald.

“Legendary,” written by Jon Bon Jovi with long-time collaborators Billy Falcon and John Shanks, is part of the 12-track album Forever, which is slated for release in June 2024.

Kacey Musgraves recently just released a new album in “Deeper Well.”  This is album number six for the Grammy-winning country music artist. Previous singles “Too Good To Be True” and the title track “Deeper Well” were released and have already gained the 35-singer praises how beautifully dreamy the songs sound and how refreshing and cohesive all fourteen songs are.

A run through the album quickly reveals fast favorites. Bouncy album opener “Cardinal” could very well be an alt-pop song, while the sparse opening of “Too Good To Be True” reminds me of Bryter Layter-era Nick Drake, which also includes the gentle-rocking of “Moving Out.”

Kacey recorded the album at famed Electric Lady Studios (the studio Jimi Hendrix built) and shared that the studio is all mojo and that being in New York was all that she needed to be in the zone. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Kacey did share that she “bummed that she didn’t see any ghosts” in the studio. While Kacey didn’t exactly see the psychedelically happening spirit of Jimi and all those greats that previously created at Electric Lady, she is able to channel an ethereal vibe into the songs such as “Giver / Taker,” “Sway,” and on contemplative “Dinner With Friends” whose tinkling piano, and laconic strumming is the simplest patterns you can hear but coupled with Kacey’s musings, transports you into her space.

There are conservationist themes in “Heart Of The Woods,” and in “The Architect,” Kacey wonders if there’s a god (which I think she does) and if there’s ever a way ‘to speak to the architect.’ This song and equally contemplative “Heaven Is” makes us think of the same stuff as well. And you and I and Kacey don’t have to have the same belief concepts to agree that there’s a higher power at work that connects everything. ‘Nuff said about that.

In all, Kacey delivers a captivating performance on “Deeper Well” that shouldn’t be missed.
