The viral word 'mekus mekus' breaks PH social media world

The expression "mekus mekus" has become a viral sensation on social media in the Philippines in 2023. Despite its popularity, many users did not fully understand its meaning.

Indian content creator Mr. Nobodydudy, who coined the iconic phrase, shared that "mekus mekus" is a playful way of pronouncing "mix mix." To achieve the sound of "mekus mekus," one should read "mix mix" in a slow Indian accent.

Not only did Mr. Nobodydudy entertain his followers with his comedic reactions to the preparation of Indian street foods, but he also introduced other viral phrases like "grabe na 'yan," "sarap na 'yan," "insan," and "tornado na ‘yan."

These catchphrases quickly spread across social media, leading to numerous internet users imitating them. Mr.Nobodydudy now has 4.7 million followers on Facebook.
