DOJ assures objectivity in Rep Castro's appeal on dismissal of complaint vs ex-Pres Duterte
The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday, Feb. 5, assured objectivity in resolving the petition for review filed by ACT Teachers Party-List Rep. France L. Castro on the dismissal of her complaint for grave threats against former President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
“The department would look at it objectively,” DOJ Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic F. Clavano IV told journalists.
“Titingnan natin kung ‘yung ebidensya na sinubmit nila, ‘yung mga allegations sa kanilang complaint ay papasok doon sa mga elemento (We will see if their evidence, the allegations made are within the elements of the crime),” Clavano said.
Castro's complaint against former President Duterte was dismissed by the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office for lack of evidence. She elevated the case to the DOJ on a petition for review.
