Last year, Makati drinks specialist The Curator re-entered Asia’s 50 Best Bars, the only Filipino brand in the 2023 roster. From ranking 38th in 2021, the speak-easy moved up to 34th, also claiming the title “Best Bar in The Philippines,” a repeat of its achievements in 2019 and 2021. The Curator has been on the list seven times now.
On the recent recognition, bartender and co-owner David Ong wrote, “The last few years have been tough for the food and beverage industry in the Philippines, and so this really means a lot to us! Please come to the Philippines. We cannot wait to host you.”

The Curator is dedicated to serving two of life’s greatest pleasures, caffeinated and mixed beverages. The concept was created in 2013 by friends Jericson Co, Tiffany Yu, Bernice Tiu, and David Ong. Segmented in two parts, the tavern features a café for its space up front that offers a selection of artisanal coffee from all over Asia. In the back is a cozy area for cocktails.
While it specializes in Filipino spirits, The Curator regularly does international bartender takeovers. Engaging descriptions, a flavor map, and credits to the bartender who created each concoction highlight the cocktail menu, which changes constantly depending on what’s in season.
The Curator also takes pride in its customer service, building genuine relationships with patrons one coffee and cocktail at a time.
