The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has 93 new corrections officers for deployment to its prison facilities nationwide to augment its workforce.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said the new officers graduated on Thursday, Feb. 29 after completing their Corrections Officer Custodial Basic Course.
During the graduation ceremony, BuCor said that Catapang urged the new corrections officers to stay away from corruption.
“Huwag n’yo gagawin ‘yan (Don’t to it),” Catapang warned.
He said "marami na natanggal sa serbisyo. Marami na ako napa-discharged (A lot of officers have been dismissed from service. I have discharged many officers),” he said.
BuCor said that of those who graduated, 62 were males and 31 were females. Eighty-four completed the training with the rank of Corrections Officer 1 and nine with the rank of Corrections Technical Officer 1.
Last November, 528 Correction Officers 1 took their oaths before Catapang and have been deployed.
