Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez hailed the humble and hardworking fishermen of Navotas, whom he called the city's "true treasure".

Rep. Romualdez, wife of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, gave this glowing description of Navotas fisherfolk during a fishing boat distribution Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Navotas Sports Complex.

"Sa ating mga minamahal na mangingisda, kayo po ang tunay na yaman ng Navotas. Sa inyong patuloy na pagsusumikap sa araw-araw, asahan niyo na laging nakaagapay ang Tingog Party-list," she said in her address.

(To our beloved fishermen, you are the true treasure of Navotas. As you continue to toil everyday, know that you can rely on Tingog Party-list for help.)

By the end of the event, at least 50 brand new fishing boats had been given away to the fishermen-beneficiaries.

The initiative, personally funded by Tingog Party-list Speaker Romualdez, is part of a broader effort to empower and uplift the lives of residents whose livelihoods are deeply entwined with the fishing industry.

In addition to the boat beneficiaries., another 1,000 fisherfolk became recipients of a cash aid worth P5,000 each under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program or AICS.

Rep. Romualdez stated that Tingog Party-list and Speaker Romualdez were committed to providing continuous support to the fisherfolk.

The event was graced by Navotas City Rep. Tobias “Toby” Tiangco, Mayor John Reynald “John Rey” Tiangco, Vice Mayor Tito Sanchez, city councilors, and barangay officials.
