House power couple, the Romualdezes, win 'outstanding public servant' award

House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez have won the “Outstanding Public Servant Year 2023” award. 

The RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) conferred the accolade to the House of Representatives' power couple on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Only Speaker Romualdez was on hand during the simple ceremony. 

“I am profoundly honored and deeply grateful to receive this recognition. It is not just a personal accolade but a testament to the collective efforts and dedication of everyone who has supported and worked alongside me in serving our nation,” said Speaker Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House. 

“This award serves as a reminder of the responsibilities entrusted to me by the Filipino people, and it motivates me to continue striving for excellence in service," added the Leyte 1st district congressman. 

His wife, Rep. Romualdez, chairs the House Committee on Accounts. 

According to RPMD, Speaker Romualdez’ dedication to public service is further exemplified by his relentless pursuit of policies that benefit the Filipinos, particularly evident in his approach to tackling challenging issues with a strong political will and a clear vision for the future. 

“Speaker Romualdez's achievements stand as a testament to his outstanding leadership qualities and his deep-rooted commitment to serving the nation,” RPMD said. 

Meanwhile, RPMD cited the “unwavering dedication and the significant elevation” Rep. Romualdez has brought to the service and outreach of the party-list in the country. 

“Congresswoman Romualdez's service extends far beyond the confines of traditional party-list representation. Her efforts have earned her national recognition, consistently placing her as the number one-party list representative. Her work has resonated deeply across the diverse fabric of Filipino society, touching the lives of citizens across all social strata,” RPMD said.
