Manila Bulletin 'most trusted' broadsheet in the Philippines — survey

Tangere’s February 2024 Media Trust Survey Results

The Manila Bulletin was ranked as the "most trusted" broadsheet in the country out of at least nine newspapers that were part of the survey conducted in February 2024 by research firm Tangere.

According to Tangere’s Media Trust Survey results released on Wednesday, Feb. 21, Manila Bulletin received the most trust, with 42 percent.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer and Philippine Star came in second and third, with 24 percent and 20 percent trust, respectively.

The following broadsheets received single-digit trust ratings: Sunstar Philippines (2 percent), Business Mirror (2 percent), BusinessWorld (1 percent), The Manila Times (1 percent), Manila Standard (1 percent), Malaya Business Insight and (0.2 percent).

Meanwhile, other broadsheets and regional or local broadsheets received a combined trust rating of 3 percent

The remaining 2 percent replied, "I don't trust any of these."

Tangere’s survey, which was administered from Feb. 8 to 10 using a mobile-based respondent application, has a sample size of 1,500 participants.

The percentage of respondents was distributed throughout the country, with 25 percent coming from Metro Manila, 18 percent from North-Central Luzon, 23 percent from South Luzon-Bicol, 12 percent from Visayas, and 21 percent from Mindanao.

The Manila Bulletin celebrated its 124th anniversary on Feb. 2, 2024, demonstrating its credibility as a news and information source for more than a century.
