House to tackle RBH 7 next week, says ranking solon

The House of Representatives' deliberations on Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No.7--its pro-Charter change (Cha-cha) measure--will begin on Monday, Feb. 26. 

This was bared by Assistant Majority Leader La Union 1st district Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega in a press conference with fellow majority bloc solons on Wednesday, Feb. 21. 

"Excited napo actually yung House na trabahuhin ito (The House is excited to work on this). Of course we will start next week," Ortega said. 

"The timeline is [to finish] before the break. Pero syempre (But of course) we will have healthy debates and we will set the tone by Monday, but that's the target. Bago po mag break ang Kongreso (before Congress goes on break)," he added. 

It was previously announced during plenary session Tuesday night that RBH No.7 would be taken up at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the 300-plus strong House acting as a Committee of the Whole.

But this doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Ortega didn't give a reason for the change. 

"Masaya po kami na pagdedebatihan na po ito sa House, mapag-uusapan na po sa House (We are happy that we will debate this soon in the House, we will discuss this in the House). Then hopefully we can get together with the Senate," said the solon from La Union. 

"Of course we are one with the President sa kanyang (on his) vision for the economy," he added. 

RBH No.7 is an exact copy of the Senate's RBH No.6. The perception is that the Senate has been acting too slow with their discussions on RBH No.6. 

Majority Leader Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Mannix Dalipe is expected to shed light on the change in schedule later in the day.
