Chinese fugitive intercepted; BI orders his immediate deportation
A Chinese fugitive wanted in his country for alleged criminal offenses has been intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) before he could board his flight to Guangshou, China.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) identified the Chinese as Zhang Xianfa, 36, who has a deportation order issued in May 2023 on request of the Chinese government.
Zhang was intercepted at NAIA after immigration officers found his name in the BI's list of aliens with derogatory records.
“He is one of 16 Chinese nationals whose deportation was sought by Chinese authorities due to crimes they allegedly committed in China. All the other 15 Chinese nationals have been deported," BI said.
It said that Zhang is “already barred from re-entering the Philippines as a result of his inclusion in the immigration blacklist.”
Zhang is currently detained in the BI’s detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City while awaiting his deportation, it added.
