2 persons arrested 'for selling unregistered fertilizers' in Nueva Ecija -- NBI
Two persons were arrested in Nueva Ecija for selling unregistered fertilizers worth P3.2 million, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.
Those arrested were identified by the NBI as fertilizer dealer Eugene Quiambao and Roy Ramos, owner of Greenfield Agri Trading in Talavera town.
The NBI said that Quiambao and Ramos will be charged with violations of Presidential Decree No. 1144, the law that created the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA).
It said the two suspects were arrested last Feb. 6 during an entrapment operation conducted jointly by the NBI Pampanga District Office (NBI-PAMDO), NBI Cabanatuan District Office (NBI-CABDO), the Department of Agriculture’s Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (DA-FPA), and the Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) 301st Special Mission Group of the 300th Air Intelligence Security Wing.
“The operation resulted in the seizure of 2,448 sacks of unregistered fertilizers with an estimated market value of more or less P3,200,000,” it said.
It noted that the "FPA subsequently issued a certification that Greenfields is not licensed by FPA to sell and distribute any brand of fertilizer, fertilizer inputs, and pesticides.”
“Furthermore, FPA certified that Macotta Fertilizer is not registered with their agency,” it added.
