The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has joined the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in hunding down a person who reportedly sent bomb threats through e-mail against several government offices last Feb. 12.
The online threats reportedly came from a certain Takahiro Karasawa. Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that in the BI list there are four persons with the same names but all of them are not in the Philippines.
“The national government is not taking this lightly. Any security threat shall be met with the harshest penalties of the law,” Tansingco said.
He said the BI has started verifying if Takahiro Karasawa is his real identity or of he is just a prankster using a fictitious name.
He also said that a person using the same name also made similar threats in other countries a few years ago.
In the e-mail received by several government offices, the person claiming to be Karasawa said bombs will explode on Feb. 12 at around 3:34 pm.
However, law enforcement authorities found no bombs during searches conducted and no explosions occurred.
