DOE clears 7 energy projects for grid impact study

The Department of Energy (DOE) granted system impact studies (SIS) to seven renewable energy (RE) projects that will undergo evaluation to determine the power grid's capacity to accommodate new connections.

Based on a document posted on the DOE website, the largest project is the 180 megawatt-peak (MWp) Agrovoltaic Solar Project in South Cotabato, which includes a 96 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Following closely behind is the 120 MWp Fortune Lal-lo Solar Energy Power Project.

Other approved solar projects include the 60 MWp Zamboanguita Solar Power Project in Zamboanguita and Napacao, Negros Oriental; the 47 MWp Pontevedra Solar Power Project in Capiz; and the Butuan City Solar 1 Power Project (SPP) in Agusan Del Norte.

Beyond solar, the DOE also granted SIS to the 15 MW Panay Biomass Power Project in Iloilo Province and the Tayabas South Wind Energy Project in Quezon Province.

These seven projects contribute to a total of 179 endorsements for RE projects this year, including five energy storage systems (ESS).
