According to volunteer Michel Betita, a member of the Triton Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire and Rescue Brigade, their team immediately responded when they received the report. However, he did not expect that his house would be among the around 30 houses engulfed by the fire.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the blaze started in a house along Acacia Street at 3:47 a.m. and reached the second alarm at 4:02 a.m. Firefighters were able to put the fire out at around 6:23 a.m.

The fire incident caused around P1,000,000 in damages and took the life of a 19-year-old man who was allegedly trapped inside their house.

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng tulong na inyong ipapaabot (For those who wish to extend help, you may send a message here on our Facebook page or send contributions to their GCash or BDO bank account. Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide),” it said.

Betita and his family, including their two grandchildren, are temporarily staying with other relatives.

Authorities are still investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
