Pasig fire leaves 1 dead, 60 families homeless

One person died while about 60 families were left homeless after a fire broke out on Acacia Street, Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, early Sunday, Dec. 15.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the victim is a 19-year-old man who was allegedly trapped inside their house.

It added that a 17-year-old male also sustained a laceration to his left foot.

BFP reported that the blaze started at 3:47 a.m. and reached the second alarm at 4:02 a.m.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out at around 6:23 a.m.

Arson investigators estimated that the fire caused around P1,000,000 in damages, destroying approximately 30 houses.

BFP said they are still determining the cause of the fire.
