A total of 3,962 law graduates passed the 2024 online Bar examinations administered by the Supreme Court (SC).

“They will become the new advocates of justice and truth. They will join the ranks of esteemed legal professionals who will shape society and champion the rights of the people,” said SC Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, chairperson of the 2024 Bar Examinations.

Lopez said 3,962 lawyers passed out of the 10,480 examinees who completed taking this year’s Bar Examinations that was conducted last Sept. 8, 11, and 15.

He noted that the national passing rate of 37.84 percent was reached after the passing grade of this year’s examinations was lowered to 74 percent from 75 percent last year.

"We have framed the questions objectively,” he said.

“They were neither easy nor difficult. Eksakto lang (Just exact). The reason is that we want to produce lawyers who are not just prepared to practice but who are equipped with professionalism, empathy and commitment to public service,” he explained.

He congratulated those who passed this year’s Bar Examinations.

“I commend you for your exceptional resilience in your bar journey,” he added.

“Remain humble as you are not superior than those who failed. There are myriad of reasons why you have passed the bar exams. And the same way that there are also reasons why they failed,” he pointed out.

He told those who failed to pass that “failure is a temporary detour, not a fatal defeat.”

Lopez identified the bar top notcher as University of the Philippines (UP) law graduate Kyle Christian G. Tutor who got a grade of 85.77 percent.

Tutor is followed by Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) law graduate Maria Chrstina S. Aniceto at second place with 85.48 percent and Angeles University Foundation law graduate Gerald C. Roxas at third place with 84.355 percent.

The fourth to sixth spots were filled by UP law graduates John Philippe E. Chua, 84.28 percent; Jet Ryan P. Nicolas, 84.265; and Maria Lovelyn Joyce S. Quebrar.

The other persons in the top 10 bar passers are Joji S. Macadine from the University of Mindanao, 83.745 percent; Gregorio Jose S. Torres II of Western Mindanao State University, 83.59 percent; and Raya B. Victorio of San Beda University, 83.47 percent.
