2 Vietnamese arrested for 'illegal practice of medicine' -- NBI
Two Vietnamese nationals have been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for alleged illegal practice of medicine.
NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago identified the two Vietnamese as Linh Khanh Tran and Hong Thi Tran who were arrested last Dec. 4 during an entrapment operation conducted by operatives of the NBI’s Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) at the Bliss Clinic in Makati City.
“Subjects failed to present any license, permit, or authorization to perform any medical procedure,” the NBI said.
“The operation also resulted in the seizure of the marked money, order forms, improvised receipts, medicines, and medical paraphernalia which will be used as evidence against the Subjects,” it also said.
The operation was conducted after the bureau received “an information pertaining to the illegal practice of medicine being perpetrated by a female Vietnamese national at a beauty clinic…,” the NBI said.
Those arrested were charged before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office with illegal practice of medicine in violation of Section 10 in relation to Section 28 of Republic Act (RA) No. 2382, the Medical Act of 1959.
