Children, regardless of age, often ask proverbial questions.  When there is a sudden power outage, it's, "Why did the lights go out?  Did you forget to pay for the electricity?"  Now, in the digital age, I get questions like, "Mom, why is the internet so slow?" or "Why don't we have internet?" It's amusing how these questions have evolved over time.  Thankfully, TP-Link has the answers (and the solution) to these modern-day conundrums.

In a bustling household of six, the battle for bandwidth can get intense!  Our home Wi-Fi feels the strain with everyone streaming, gaming, and working/learning remotely all at the same time.  Just imagine all cars driving through a narrow 2-lane service road - it gets pretty tight, especially during rush hours.  The result:  frustrations and anger ensue among drivers and passengers.  The same is true in our home.  The battle for a smooth, fast and uninterrupted Wi-Fi is real.

When it comes to connectivity, living in a 600-square meter, 5- bedroom, 2-storey home poses several issues.   Weak signals in certain areas are common, especially when far from the router.  My husband often complains about weak or really slow internet on the second floor where the master bedroom is.  The home office, however, gets enough connectivity since it's in the center of the house and where the router is placed.  Barriers like thick walls and floors also contribute to these issues.

Apart from location and physical barriers, the number of people and devices connected, especially during peak hours, can cause network congestion.  With more people and devices sharing the bandwidth, it gets divided, leading to slower speeds for everyone.

As technology continues to evolve, the demand for connectivity grows alongside it.  In our household alone, more and more devices are connected.  I have about six devices connected to the internet. You can just imagine how much more devices are connected from my other five family members!   And there is more!  We still have smart home devices connected, like CCTV cameras, smart lights/switches (in all my children's bedrooms as they ALWAYS forget to switch off their lights), smart speakers, a Google hub and a pet feeder.  We have a lot and that is why it is a struggle for signal supremacy.  With more devices, applications, services and advancements in technology requiring internet access, it is essential to have a robust and reliable network at home.

After considering all factors, it is best to use a router and mesh system that support the latest Wi-Fi standards and are capable of accommodating future advancements.

As a global provider of networking devices and smart home products, TP-Link has always been at the forefront of Wi-Fi innovation. They are the first to release Wi-Fi 7 devices, including routers, a mesh system and a Wi-Fi range extender with 6GHz.  These are designed to meet future connectivity demands.

Having the DECO BE65 for a month has made me realize how much we needed an upgrade.  TP-Link's DECO BE65 high-performance home mesh Wi-Fi 7 system has indeed provided seamless and resilient connectivity throughout our home.  It has effectively solved many issues we faced, thanks to its key features:

Wi-Fi 7 technology

The TP-Link DECO BE65 leverages the latest Wi-Fi7 standard.  As the latest generation of wireless internet technology,  it is capable of accelerating throughput up to 46 Gbps.  This means it can transfer data at amazingly high speeds - 46 gigabits per second.

It also offers 4X lower latency compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E routers.  This results to incredibly shorter (4X shorter) delays between sending and receiving data.  My son noticed improved performance and responsiveness when he was playing Final Fantasy XIV and Path of Exile.  He said responses were significantly quicker and almost instantly!

Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7

The DECO BE65 offers speeds of up to 11 Gbps across three frequency bands:  2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz.   We all know that the 2.4GHz band, although slower, has a longer range and can penetrate walls better.  Meanwhile, the 5GHz is faster and experiences less interference.  The significant addition is the latest 6GHz band introduced with Wi-Fi 7.  With 320MHz - double bandwidth compared to 5GHz - this means the speed when sending data is doubled.  This translates to faster internet speeds and better performance, even when many devices are connected simultaneously.

If you are from the south, pretty much you are familiar with the Skyway and the service road.  Think of the width of the service road.  Now compare it with the width of the Skyway.  The wider the highway, the more cars can travel at the same time.  And so, while I am in the middle of a zoom meeting at home, with my mother-in-law seriously engaged in Netflix and my kids deciding to engage in a fierce online game like Path of Exile, in the end, we all came out victorious.  My video call ran smoothly, my mother-in-law's K-drama on Netflix wasn't interrupted and best of all I got that winning smile from my son who came out on top of his game.

Multi-Link Operation and Seamless AI-Driven Roaming

Speaking of multiple devices connected simultaneously, the DECO BE65 features Multi-Link Operation (MLO).  This feature allows devices to use multiple Wi-Fi connections at the same time.  Combined with its tri-band capability, MLO helps Wi-Fi 7 deliver smoother and faster internet by enabling simultaneous data transmission across several bands or even multiple access points.  This addressed our problem of weak signals in certain areas of our home.  And since DECO BE65 is a mesh system - consisting of nodes that communicate with each other to create multiple pathways for data transmission - everyone in the family enjoys stronger signals and better coverage throughout the entire house.  As for my husband, he has been a happy camper ever since!

Another way the DECO BE65 addresses the issue of weak signal is its Seamless AI-Driven Roaming feature.  This feature ensures that all our devices are always connected to the strongest signal available as we move from one area to another.  It creates a single, unified network with one network name, eliminating the need to switch between different Wi-Fi networks as we move around the house.  Using advanced algorithms and self-learning capabilities, it continuously learns and adapts to our home’s layout and usage patterns.  The result:  as we move around our home we do not experience any interruptions, trickled or dropped connections when streaming, browsing the internet or gaming.  The signal remains strong throughout the entire home.

High Capacity 16x16 MU-MIMO , High Speed 4K-QAM

If your household is like mine, with a large number of devices, then the TP-Link’s DECO BE65 would be perfect for your home too. Thanks to its 4K-QAM - 4K meaning it can handle 4,096 different signal combinations, and QAM which stands for Quadrature Amplitude Modulation - the DECO BE65 is capable of delivering faster internet speeds and better performance, especially when you have many devices connected at the same time.  It can send 20% more data efficiently into each wireless packet resulting in faster internet.

Another feature that significantly improves capacity and enhances performance is the DECO BE65’s 16x16 MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multiple Input, Multiple Output) function.  This feature allows the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously, rather than one at a time, thereby increasing network capacity.  The TP-Link DECO BE65 can serve multiple devices at once without congestion or slowing down.  Each device is assured to receive a strong and stable signal.
