A Chinese national has been arrested in Paranaque City for alleged illegal practice of medicine, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Thursday, Nov. 7.
The NBI identified the Chinese national as Liu Xiaofeng, alias Dong Dong, who was arrested by operatives of the NBI’s Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) during an entrapment operation last Oct. 29.
“Items seized from the possession of the Subject are One (1) box of Duo Fan Li (Stomachache Medicine), One (1) box of Omeprazole Enteric Capsules, One (1) Booklet Prescription Forms, and Two (2) Stethoscopes,” it said.
After the arrest, Liyu was presented for inquest before the Paranaque City Prosecutor’s Office for violations of Section 10 in relation to Section 28 of Republic Act (RA) 2382, the Medical Act of 1959); Section 11 (j) in relation to Section 12 (a) of RA 9711, the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009; and Section 45 (a) and (d) of RA 10918 or the Philippine Pharmacy Act.
