President Maros has appointed Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony D. Fadullon as prosecutor general of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Fadullon's appointment was relayed to Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla in a letter dated Oct. 30, 2024 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersmin.
Fadullon replaced former prosecutor general Benedicto A. Malcontento who resigned last Oct. 16.
"I am extremely confident in your skill, experience and resolve that you are the perfect fit for the title of Prosecutor General capable of upholding the rule of law with fearlessness and utmost integrity," Remulla told Fadullon.
In a statement, the DOJ said that Remulla has expressed belief that “he (Fadullon) has what it takes to bring the justice system to 'greater heights.’”
It also said the appointment of Fadullon is also “in line with the unwavering efforts of the present administration under the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance to continuously advance the criminal justice system.”
“Fadullon is a seasoned prosecutor who has served the DOJ for 30 long years starting his career as Prosecutor II (State Prosecutor I) on 06 April 1994,” it added.
Fadullon obtained his AB Political Science Degree from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in 1983 and later his law degree from the San Beda College in 1987.
