If the evidence warrants, Vice President Sara Duterte's statement saying she hired an assassin to have President Marcos killed if she, herself, gets killed "could lead to eventual persecution."
Malacañang said this in a statement on Sunday, Nov. 24, saying that the supposed threat made by the Vice President is now under investigation according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
"The matter is now subject to an ongoing investigation. If the evidence warrants, this could lead to eventual prosecution," Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez said.
Duterte has backpedaled from her statement, saying she will not gain anything if the President dies.
She said her statement was more of a concern on the threat to her security.
The Vice President held a Zoom press conference on Saturday night, where she publicly threatened the First Couple and House Speaker Martin Romualdez and accused the President of incompetence and his wife of corruption.
