Mayor Honey invites aspiring doctors to enroll in PLM's medicine program

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan invited college and senior high school graduates to enroll in the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine Enhanced Medicine Program (EMP).
Lacuna-Pangan, who's a medical doctor and board chairperson of the PLM, said the EMP is a unique and rigorous six-year accelerated program designed to fast-track students on their journey to becoming medical doctors.
Alongside PLM, three other prestigious universities—the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, and De La Salle University—offer similar Doctor of Medicine (MD) programs, making it an exclusive educational opportunity for aspiring medical professionals.
"This highly specialized program stands out for its speed and intensity, and it is only offered by a select few institutions in the country," said the mayor, who is an alumna of UST for pre-med and DLSU for medicine.

“PLM will soon welcome the first batch of future doctors who are taking this Enhanced Medical Program," she said.
The six years include the pre-med course of four years, so it will take only two more years after pre-med to graduate with a Doctor of Medicine degree from PLM.
The local chief executive noted that PLM can offer the accelerated program because of its exceptional track record, including high performance in the licensure examinations for physicians and the PLM way of delivering high-quality health professions education and science education.
The city government said 40 slots in the PLM EMP first batch have been allotted for the academic year 2025 to 2026 and 2026 to 2027.
Those who will take the full six-year course will be senior high school graduates who will come in as PLM freshies.
The SHS graduates must be natural-born Filipinos, with a 90 percent GWA or its equivalent (preferably from the STEM strand), and PLM admission test (PLMAT) scores of 90 percent or higher.
Candidates must hurdle the entrance interview and agree to a Return of Service Agreement.
