3 Japanese 'fugitives' deported

Three Japanese fugitives have been deported to their country where they face criminal charges, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The BI identified them as Koyama Tomohir, Nagaura Hirok, and Miura Eisei who were deported on Tuesday, Nov. 19. They were arrested by the BI during separate operations.

“The deportees were turned over to the custody of Japanese police authorities and boarded Japan Airlines flight JL 746 bound for Tokyo” and done in close coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Manila, the BI said.

It said the names of the three Japanese have been included in the BI's blacklist to prevent their return to the Philippines.

“All three also have standing arrest warrants issued by Japanese authorities for alleged criminal acts, as confirmed through official records of the Japanese government,” it also said.

It explained that the three foreigners were deported "for violating the conditions of their stay, as stipulated under Section 37(a)(7) of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, and on grounds of undesirability.”

It reiterated: “The Bureau remains committed to ensuring that foreign nationals within the country adhere to Philippine laws and regulations, in line with its mandate to safeguard the nation’s security and interests."
