Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) has made landfall near Panganiban, Catanduanes.
In its 11 p.m. bulletin issued on Nov. 16, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Pepito” made landfall at 9:40 p.m.
PAGASA said “Pepito” will continue moving west northwestward over the waters north of Camarines Provinces --- with a landfall or close approach over Calaguas Islands not ruled out --- until the early morning of Sunday, Nov. 17.
Between Sunday afternoon and evening, PAGASA said “Pepito” will cross the northern portion of Central Luzon and the southern portion of Northern Luzon along the upland areas of Sierra Madre, Caraballo, and Cordillera Central.
PAGASA said “Pepito” will emerge over the coastal waters of Pangasinan or La Union in the late evening of Sunday or early morning of Monday, Nov. 18.
“Pepito will either remain as a super typhoon or slightly weaken as a typhoon over Aurora,” PAGASA said. “Significant weakening will occur during the passage of PEPITO over mainland Luzon tomorrow, but it will likely remain as a typhoon throughout its passage over mainland Luzon,” it added.
PAGASA said “Pepito” will continue moving west northwestward for the rest of Monday and may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the morning or afternoon of Nov. 18.
